Synopsis

Built from footage connected to the 1995 film adaptation of Jim Carroll's memoir, the video follows a young Jim, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, through a fractured portrait of adolescent New York. Basketball, street life, friendship, rebellion, and the menace of addiction flash by in quick, gritty images, while Carroll's furious roll call of lost friends supplies the emotional framework. Rather than presenting a conventional performance narrative, the clip works as a compact visual companion to Carroll's autobiographical world and its atmosphere of danger, grief, and doomed youth.
