Synopsis

Stereophonics turn Turin into their own lighthearted version of The Italian Job. Kelly Jones, Richard Jones, and Stuart Cable race through the city in Minis, echoing the film's famous getaway sequences and recognizable locations. The playful chase eventually gives way to the band performing inside a bus balanced dramatically on the edge of a cliff. The video matches the song's restless mood with fast-moving driving footage, comic touches, and a distinctly British sense of adventure.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video is a direct homage to the 1969 British film The Italian Job, rather than a conventional performance clip.
  • Filming took place in Turin, Italy, where the band recreated elements of the movie's car chase and used locations associated with the original film.
  • The production features three Minis, reflecting the three Mini Coopers used by the robbers in The Italian Job.
  • The cliff-edge bus sequence also mirrors one of the film's best-known images, while placing the band inside the precarious vehicle to perform the song.
  • "Pick A Part That's New" was released as the third UK single from Performance and Cocktails in 1999 and reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
  • A separate promotional video for the song used live footage from Stereophonics' major 1999 concert at Morfa Stadium in Swansea.
