Synopsis

In a stark black-and-white presentation, Blixa Bargeld and Meret Becker embody two lovers who can meet only in dreams. Their imagined journeys move through the deepest point of the ocean, the world's highest mountains, the North Pole and a doomed voyage toward the mythical land of Eldorado. Each attempt to find the other fails through distance, disorientation or sleep, leaving the pair suspended between longing and separation. The final idea offers a fragile resolution: by dreaming of each other, they may finally dream themselves awake.

• "Stella Maris" is a duet between Einsturzende Neubauten vocalist Blixa Bargeld and singer-actress Meret Becker.

• The song appeared on the 1996 album "Ende Neu" and was also issued as a single.
