Synopsis

Shot in stark black and white, the video moves between Depeche Mode performing in barren landscapes and shadowy interior spaces. Dave Gahan sings with a newly rugged image while Martin Gore, Alan Wilder, and Andy Fletcher play in stripped-down settings. An enigmatic woman, portrayed by Lysette Anthony, appears alone in a sparse room, gradually revealing herself to someone just outside the frame. The video builds its sensual, mysterious atmosphere through abrupt cuts between the band, desert-like scenery, and the woman's private encounter.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video marked the first time many fans saw Dave Gahan's long hair, tattoos, goatee, and more rock-oriented image, a major visual change from the band's previous era.
  • English actress Lysette Anthony plays the mysterious woman. Before and alongside her acting career, Anthony was also known for music-video appearances.
  • The song was the first single from Depeche Mode's 1993 album "Songs of Faith and Devotion," and the video helped establish the album's darker, more guitar-driven visual identity.
  • Its black-and-white photography became one of the defining visual signatures of the "Songs of Faith and Devotion" period.
  • "I Feel You" was nominated for a 1993 MTV Video Music Award and also received a nomination at the 1993 Brit Awards.
  • The video was later included in Depeche Mode compilations such as "The Videos 86>98" and "Video Singles Collection."
