Synopsis

Mick Jagger wanders into a nightclub and strikes up a flirtatious encounter with a woman who encourages him to take the stage. He picks up a guitar and launches into a lively performance of "Just Another Night," while the video intercuts scenes of the pair growing closer. The club setting, romantic episodes, and Jagger's energetic stage presence give the promo a loose, cinematic feel, balancing a love story with a straightforward performance piece.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Just Another Night" was the first single from Jagger's debut solo album, "She's the Boss," released in 1985.

• Rae Dawn Chong plays Jagger's love interest. She later appeared with him in the longer music project "Running Out of Luck," which connected several songs from "She's the Boss" through a loose narrative.

• Parts of the video were filmed in Rio de Janeiro, including footage shot at the Elite dance hall, or gafieira, in central Rio.

• The video was among the Jagger solo clips that received substantial MTV exposure during the mid-1980s. The single reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard's Rock Tracks chart for two weeks.

• The song became the subject of a copyright lawsuit brought by Jamaican reggae singer Patrick Alley, who claimed Jagger had copied his earlier song with the same title. A jury ruled in Jagger's favor in 1988.

• The track's polished, synth-heavy production and prominent guitar work reflect Jagger's attempt to establish a solo identity while still drawing on the dance-rock sound associated with the Rolling Stones' 1980s period.
