Synopsis

Ozzy Osbourne and his daughter Kelly perform a tender duet of Black Sabbath's "Changes" in a sparse, studio-like setting. Seated opposite each other on antique chairs, they sing directly to one another as the arrangement emphasizes the song's melancholy and their familial connection. The performance is intercut with home-movie footage of Kelly growing up, childhood memories with her father, and scenes from The Osbournes. The result presents the famously chaotic family in an unusually intimate and sentimental light.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The song is a re-recording of Black Sabbath's "Changes," originally released on the band's 1972 album Vol. 4.
  • The duet was recorded for a reissue of Kelly Osbourne's debut album, Shut Up. The expanded 2003 edition was retitled Changes and used the father-daughter collaboration as its centerpiece.
  • The video was filmed in October 2003 and posted online in November of that year.
  • Much of the emotional impact comes from genuine family archive material, including childhood footage of Kelly and earlier moments shared with Ozzy.
  • Clips from MTV's The Osbournes connect the video to the television series that had made the family internationally recognizable from 2002 onward.
  • The single reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in December 2003, giving Ozzy and Kelly a major commercial success outside their separate music careers.
  • The release helped relaunch Kelly's album after she moved from Sony Music to Sanctuary Records.
