Alien prequel to be helmed by Carl Erik Rinsch

Fox and Ridley Scott are in talks about continuing the Alien franchise, this time with a prequel. The 5th Alien installment is scheduled for release in 2011. The directing job will go to Carl Erik Rinsch, although Fox is still unhappy with Scott not directing the piece himself. Despite the contrasting views about who would be best for the directing job, Rinsch is said to have already signed on earlier in May this year. Some sources say the decision for Rinsch wasn't completely free of nepotism, that's why Fox is a bit bitter, but that's another story.

Who is Carl Erik Rinsch

When Ridley Scott decided to not direct Alien 5 (or shouldn't we say Alien 0), he had no need to look far. His commercials production company RSA is his very own talent pool. Carl Erik Rinsch is signed on to RSA Los Angeles since 2006 and made himself a name as director of well produced films, mostly incorporating sophisticated CGI gadgetry, robotics or both. In the past he had directed films for Heineken, Saturn, BMW and Lexus.
